Summer 2002: Seven Changos graduate! After auditions in July, nine new players become part of the performing group.Their first performance was in late July for the Home Democracy Tour at the Tucson Community Center. Bishop Samuel Ruiz García's visit to Tucson in the Spring of 2002 included a mariachi welcome from Los Changuitos Feos. Bishop Ruiz is known throughout the world for his support of poor and indigenous people. He has been nominated three times for the Nobel Peace Prize. The Bishop is Emeritus of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas. Visita del obispo Samuel Ruíz García a Tucson en la primavera del 2002: Dándole la bienvenida es el Mariachi Los Changuitos Feos. El obispo Ruíz es conocido mundialmente por su apoyo a la gente pobre e indígena; ha sido nominado tres veces para el premio Nobel de la Paz. El obispo es jubilado de San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chiapas (del convento).
