Steven is a high school senior who has been a member of Changos
since July 2002. A trumpet player, his main musical interests are mariachi
and Chicano rap. His school focus is the automotive shop. Cars and his
girlfriend, he tells us, are his extracurricular interests. You might hear
him saying "OK mayn." |

Samantha is a high school sophomore and plays violin. She has
participated in school mariachi and orchestra. Math, mariachi, dance, and
Spanish are her favorite school subjects and her hobbies include mariachi,
shopping, and going to the movies. Sometimes also known as "Sam,"
"Sammy," "and "Sammy Jo," she has been a Chango
since July 2002 and can be quoted as saying the word “like” 50 times in one
sentence. |

Danny, a high school junior, is 2003-2004 group leader as well
as rhythm section leader. He entered the performing group of Los Changuitos
Feos in June 1999. Danny, alias "Crazy Fingers," plays vihuela in
Los Changuitos and has been privately trained in voice and vihuela. Mariachi
is his chief musical interest. Math is his favorite school subject and
bowling his extra-musical passion. |

Marlise is in tenth grade
and plays violin. Her school interests include swimming in P.E. and student
council. A has been a member of Los Changuitos since July 2002, Marlise
(whose nicknames include "Reecie" and "Mar Mar," ) enjoys
going to football games and shopping. |

Carlos, a high school junior and a guitarrón player, entered Los
Changuitos during winter 2003. He calls himself a "music freak" who
is interested in anything having to do with music. He brings several years of
classical training to his playing and is involved in school mariachi and the
National Music Honor Society. His nicknames include "Recluse,"
"Carlitos," and "Bubba" and you might hear him say
"That's terrible!" |
Dominic, a violinist, is a high school sophomore who entered the
performing group of Changos in July 2002. His musical training includes
school orchestra. Weight training is his favorite school subject and working
out and bowling his main extra-curricular interests. Dominic's musical
interests are mariachi, tejano, and Mexican rap. His favorite expression is
" oh snaps." |

Damian's musical interests are mariachi, banda, and rap. He
plays violin and his musical training includes school orchestra. In school,
where he is a sophomore, weight training and automotive are his interests.
Out of school, he likes to work out and play basketball. Quote him as saying
"What the." |
Jason, one of the newest Changos, plays guitar.His school
interests include radio, media, and math and his musical interests encompass
mariachi, hip-hop, and rap. Music, sports, boxing, and DJing are Jason's
hobbies. He also likes to watch TV and "kick it." Victoria (who is sometimes called
"Toria","Kiki," "Chaparita,"
"Cachetes," and "Vicky") entered the Changos in July
2002. She is in 7th grade and plays violin. Her musical training includes
school mariachi groups. Spanish and social studies are her school passions
and her hobbies include folklórico and mariachi. She can be quoted as saying
"P'Zone," "Bad Cheetah," and "Dude." |
Niko is a trumpet player whose musical interests include
mariachi, jazz, classical, and tejano. His school interests include music,
math, and English. Niko plays with his high school mariachi group and with
its jazz ensemble, where he is in 10th grade. His musical training includes
band and jazz, in addition to mariachi. Outside of school and music, Niko,
a.k.a. "Niko Suave" enjoys golf. You might hear him saying
"You smell!" |
